What are the gadgets?
Gadget are tiny programs that live at your desktop and give you instant access to the certain information or certain feature. Generally, they are not a complex software in terms of amount of features available. They are meant just to be specialized in a very specified task. Therefore, they may be compact, fast and extremally helpful. Having right gadgets installed you may, for example, forget about repeating the ritual of opening your favourite browser, navigating to the certain page, skimming through it to find the information and closing the browser, you would repeat thousands times over a day. You may also find the gadgets which let you explore the disk with double panels and perform operation like copy with extreme easy without a need to open any file manager or the one which will let you have multiple desktops and provide you with a preview of them and quick way to switch them. Those are only the examples of what gadgets' benefits are.

In order to install any of the gadgets available here you need to have Google Desktop installed. Once installed Google Desktop, you may install any gadget just clicking Download in the respective page.

Gadgets in case of Google Desktop are basically takes form of a package composed of XML files defining the graphical interface and JScript code defining the behaviour, utilizing API exposed by Google Desktop. It may be extended by providing own ActiveX server providing refined quality.
