gdAmp is the gadget for Google Desktop 5 which lets you control major functionality of Winamp 2 or Winamp 5. It has compact, clear and usable interface blending well into modern appearance of Google Desktop's deskbar with configurable colors of texts. It does not consume a lot of space in your deskbar due to the use of scrolling text for showing the title of the track currently being played.
The outline of the gdAmp's functionality is as following:
You may ask why did I decide to create my own controller gadget for Winamp while currently there are available some and why should you choose mine. The answer is very simple - I did not fully like how they work. I was missing the volume control and ability to specify new file to play directly from the gadget. Also, other gadgets are not the standard Google Desktop's gadget - they are external libraries and provide their own layout taking no advantage of Google Desktop's interface features like transparency and need setup applications. My gadget is a standard GD gadget in .gg file which blends well into the layout of Google Desktop's deskbar. Additionally, it consumes small amount of plays which makes it fit into the deskbar of a demanding user. And, it provides you with all the features that are missing in other solutions - you may control the volume of winamp. You may also hide Winamp from desktop and still be able to open new file from gdAmp.
gdAmp is free software and is distributed in the hope that it will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
